A new animation by Next Media Animation, the Taiwanese house known for making re-enactment videos of news events (a la Tiger’s car accident), takes aim at the attack on Ali Ferzat, the Syrian cartoonist whose hands were broken (see “Cartoonist’s Hands Broken”). Here’s the statement that accompanied the video:
"Pictures of Ferzat, both his hands broken by goons, outraged cartoonists the world over. They fought back in solidarity, using their pens to draw more caricatures attacking Assad than Ferzat could ever manage. Will Assad’s other brutal actions eventually backfire on him?"
Ferzat had a response of his own to the attack (see "Cartoonist Flips off Dictator").
NPR has acquired the non-exclusive right to publish the cartoon by Ferzat that may have triggered the attack and paired it with a cartoon by Chip Bok.
