Bestselling horror novelist Stephen King is teaming up with his talented offspring, Eisner-winning comics scribe Joe Hill, on a two-part comic adaptation of their co-written story “Throttle,” which IDW Publishing will release starting in February under the title Road Rage. “Throttle” was the first collaboration between King and Hill. It was created for an anthology honoring science fiction legend Richard Matheson, and was inspired by Matheson’s classic story “Duel” (that was the springboard for Stephen Spielberg’s first film, also called Duel, which starred Dennis Weaver and was released in 1971). So it comes as no surprise that IDW will be following Road Rage, which will be published in February and March, with a two-issue adaptation of Matheson’s “Duel” that will appear in April and May.
Nelson Daniel will provide the interior art for Road Rage with Phil Noto providing covers for the saga of a motorcycle gang pursued by an unseen assailant in a big rig. Tony Harris will also paint two incentive covers for the Road Rage series that depict King and Hill on a motorcycle trip.
IDW’s Chief Creative Officer Chris Ryall will adapt Matheson’s short story “Duel” with artist Rafa Garres providing the art.
