The Hollywood trades are reporting that Richard Roundtree (Shaft) and Christian Oliver (The Good German, Ready or Not) have joined the cast of the live action Speed Racer movie (based on the 1960s anime) that the Wachowski Brothers are currently shooting in Germany and is slated to debut in theaters on May 9th, 2008. 

Roundtree will portray Ben Burns, a former racing champion turned commentator who is an icon to racing fans and a role model to Speed.  Roundtree and Oliver join a cast that also includes Emile Hirsh, Matthew Fox, Susan Sarandon, John Goodman, and Christina Ricci (see 'Speed Racer's New Mach 5').
