According to an announcement from Rackham (translated by Tabletop Gaming News), the Directorate-General of Rackham SA has chosen to enter the company into a legal safeguard period, which is apparently the French equivalent of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The decision was made due to weak sales of AT-43 in Europe as well as investments required to launch AT-43 and the new Confrontation pre-painted line, which will launch in November (see ''Confrontation' Goes Pre-Painted'). Rackham will have this liability protection for six months beginning August 27th.

Also according to the announcement, AT-43 is doing well in the States, with sales growth of 10% per month, and its new partnership with Fantasy Flight Games for distribution should help maintain a strong performance in the U.S.

Company-wide, total sales for Rackham dropped from 400,000 euros per month in 2005-06 to 300,000 euros over the same period in the past year.
