According to The Hollywood Reporter Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje, and Said Taghmaoui have joined the cast of Paramount's live action G.I. Joe movie. Stephen Sommers is directing the film, which is based on the Hasbro toy property and also stars Sienna Miller as the Baroness and Ray Park as the mute ninja Snake Eyes. The movie's script, which was written by Stuart Beattie, internationalizes the famous combat team by having them operate out of Brussels with the acronym 'G.I. JOE' now standing for 'Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity.' Paramount has scheduled G.I. Joe for an August 2009 release.
Rachel Nichols, who starred in TV's Alias and the 2005 remake of The Amityville Horror, will play Scarlett, a highly trained martial artist, while Akinnouye-Agbaje (Lost, The Bourne Identity) will portray ordinance expert Heavy Duty, and Taghmaoui (The Kite Runner, Sleeper Cell) will be Breaker, the team's communication specialist.
