Broccoli Books has announced on its Website (and in an advertisement on the dot-anime Website) the acquisition of the Sola manga series, which is being written by Naoki Hisaya and illustrated by Chako Abeno.  Only one volume of the ongoing seinen (older teen and young adult males) Sola manga series has appeared in Japan (where it is published by MediaWorks and serialized in the Dengeki Daioh anthology magazine), but Sola has already made a significant impact -- a 13-episode anime adaptation aired in Japan last spring.

The protagonist of Sola is the young photographer Yorito Morimiya, who loves to get up early and take pictures of the sky ('sola' can be translated as 'sky').  One morning he helps a girl who is pounding on a vending machine that has taken her money, but by the time he gets the machine to work, she has disappeared, setting the stage for this supernatural fantasy/drama/romance.

Broccoli has nearly completed work on the cover for its English edition (which will resemble the Japanese cover reproduced here) and plans to publish the first volume of Sola later this year.
