The Anime News Network has confirmed that FUNimation has acquired the rights to two Negima OVAs, Mahou Sensei Negima! OVA Haru, and its sequel, Mahou Sensei Negima! OVA Natsu. Back in July of 2007, when FUNimation announced the acquisition of the second Negima series (see "Darker Than Black"), it was widely thought that the company was also likely to have the rights to these Negima OVAs, but no formal announcement of the licensing fate of the 25-minute OVAs was ever made.
Although FUNimation has petitioned file-sharing Websites to take down Gonzo's Romeo & Juliet anime series, this doesn't mean that FUNimation has the rights to anime Shakespearean adaptation. A FUNimation spokesperson told ANN that the company had been asked by Gonzo to help police Internet sites that were facilitating illegal downloads of Gonzo anime series, and was doing so because of the longstanding relationship between the two companies, not because FUNimation had the rights to Romeo & Juliet, which remains unlicensed in North America.
