Catalyst Games has announced that its license to produce games based on the BattleTech and Shadowrun properties are unaffected by the WizKids closure (see “Topps Shuts Down WizKids”). Catalyst signed a two year deal with WizKids for the properties earlier this year (see “Catalyst Signs Two Year Deal”).
Catalyst co-founder Loren Coleman reassured interested parties of the company’s continuing plans for the properties. “We’re still completely dedicated to the Classic BattleTech and Shadowrun game lines,” he said. “We’ve got a great line of products coming out heading into 2009 and so see no reason why the 25th [BattleTech] and 20th [Shadowrun] anniversary years for these brands won’t be fantastic for our great fan base.”
