The Topps Company is set to release a series of 90 Inaugural Edition President Obama Trading Cards that chronicle the life of President-elect Barack Obama. The cards will be available in 6-card packs for a suggested retail price of $1.99, and will ship on January 3rd, well before the inauguration.
The new Topps Inaugural Edition President Obama Cards will trace the President-elect’s entire life using photographs to chronicle his “only in America” saga from his childhood in Hawaii, to his college and law school years, to his work as a community organizer, and finally his political career right up to his triumphant victory celebration in Chicago’s Grant Park.
Topps has already issued cards featuring Barack Obama and his opponent in the recently concluded presidential campaign, John McCain, as inserts in Topps Major League Baseball releases, and the Obama cards in particular have been fetching high prices on the secondary market. But the real impetus behind the release of an entire trading card series devoted to the life of the President-elect is undoubtedly the success of the instant books and special editions of magazines featuring the image of the future president.
