The guest list at the upcoming New York Comic Con is getting longer than the tally sheet of banks getting Federal bailouts. Top comic scribe Grant Morrison (Arkham Asylum, Final Crisis, Batman R.I.P.) is the latest addition to recent announcements of other “Guests of Honor” including Secret Invasion mastermind Brian Michael Bendis, Invincible Iron Man writer Matt (The Five Fists of Science) Fraction, and a trio of key contemporary artists, Gabrielle Dell’Otto, and brothers Adam and Andy Kubert.
Adam and Andy’s dad Joe Kubert will attend the NYCC with a “Living Legend” designation, which he will share with other key long term contributors to the comics medium, Jerry Robinson and Joe Simon.
The exact distinction between “Guest of Honor,” “Living Legend,” and “Featured Guest” appears to be somewhat murky. Fans will likely be just as jazzed at the prospect of interacting with “Featured Guests” such as Dave Gibbons (artist of Watchmen, the most popular graphic novel of all time), Bryan Lee O’Malley (creator of the hugely popular Scott Pilgrim graphic novels), Ben Templesmith (Eisner Award-nominated artist and writer), Herb Trimpe (legendary Hulk penciller) and Len Wein (longtime writer and editor for both Marvel & DC), as they will with the “Guests of Honor.”
