Sportsmen Pressure Bluewater Productions
Upset Over 'Ellen' Comic
Published: 04/20/2010 06:25pm
Upset over Bluewater’s Female Empowerment comic featuring talk show host Ellen Degeneres, who is donating her proceeds from the comic to the American Humane Society, the U.S. Sportsmen Association has begun a campaign to pressure Bluewater to withdraw the comic.
The USSA is particularly upset that proceeds from the comic could go to the Humane Society, which campaigns against dove hunting and supports increased regulation of dog breeders in an effort to wipe out puppy mills.
The tone of the press release issued by Bluewater is one of surprise and amusement. Like so many “victims” of similar campaigns, the publisher appears to be basking in the publicity provided the Sportsmen Association's activity, which like most similar campaigns is likely to be counterproductive.
