Spider-Man and Arachne (a new character created for the production) ended up dangling from wires for embarrassingly long periods in the first preview performance of Spider-Man:  Turn off the Dark on Sunday, according to the New York Post.  Those were only a few of the problems in the massively expensive production (now cited at $65 million in most reports), which is opening late and over budget.

The performance ran 3-1/2 hours, according to the report, because of many stops to fix equipment, sets, and other problems.  “I feel like a guinea pig tonight,” one patron yelled from the audience.

“Not even Spider-Man could avert this disaster,” was the opening line of the Post’s article.  Ouch.
