Director McG is being signed to direct Ouija, based on the Hasbro game, and production will begin later this year, according to Variety, which describes the film as a “supernatural action adventure.”  The release date has been set as November 12, 2012.

McG was selected after a lengthy search (see “Three Helmers Circling Ouija”).  He’s best known for directing two Charlie’s Angels features and Terminator Salvation. 

Ouija follows Battleship, which will release May 25, 2012 (see “Universal Bets the Farm on Battleship”), as the second movie produced by Universal under its licensing agreement with Hasbro.
