Dynamite Entertainment will launch its second title in the Kirby: Genesis group, Kirby: Genesis—Captain Victory, in October. It will be written by Sterling Gates, formerly a DC exclusive writer. Covers will be by Alex Ross, joined by Michael Avon Oeming, Wagner Reis and Sean Chen.
“We’re going to be… producing a space opera that will be epic in scope, as well as acting as a huge linchpin for parts of the Kirby Genesis universe,” Gates said. “Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross have showcased Captain Victory over in Kirby: Genesis -- and done some of the heavier lifting – but I’m really going to flesh out Victory’s world and his character and make sure he’s someone you want to read about every month“ (for more on Kirby: Genesis, see "Ross, Busiek on 'Kirby: Genesis'" and "Preview: Kirby: Genesis.").
Captain Victory, of course, was Kirby's creation for Pacific Comics, their first book and an important landmark in the development of creator-owned comics.
