Marvel Studios has hired Saving Private Ryan screenwriter Robert Rodat to take another pass at the script for Thor 2.  Rodat will be re-working a script by Don Payne (My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Thor) for director Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), who took over after Patty Jenkins (Monster) left the project (see “Thor 2 Gets Director”).

 

Jenkins’ departure created some ill will among cast members (see “Portman Angry About Thor 2”) and cost the project some time. Deadline reports that despite the rewrite Marvel/Disney still plans to get the film into production later this year and make the November 2013 opening date that the studio has reserved.
