WizKids has announced the March release of a line of games and collectible minis based on the upcoming Gary Ross film The Hunger Games (see “‘Hunger Games’ Trailer”). Based on the young adult book series, the film is set in a future world where young teens battle to the death in televised competitions.
The Hunger Games: District 12 Strategy Game pits two to four players in a competition to collect critical survival supplies and avoid “the Reaping.”
This is a different game than The Hunger Games: Training Days released in 2010. For details, see: “WizKids’ ‘Hunger Games’”
The Hunger Games: Jabberjay card game is a deduction game for five to twelve players. The goal is to identify the other players’ identities and force them to flee. A two to four player cooperative game is also included, using the same deck of cards, in which players attempt to protect the citizens of the District from the Peacekeepers.
Jabberjay includes 52 cards and rules for both games.
A set of collectible, pre-painted miniatures will also be released. The Hunger Games Collectible Figures will be available in single-figure boosters, and will include a total of 27 different figures, modeled after the characters in the film. The boosters come in a gravity-feed counter-top display. Each display holds 24 packs.
All three new products will be shipping in early March, just before the release of the film in theaters.
