Lucasfilm Ltd, Nerdist Industries, Octagon and Machinma are teaming up to provide Star Wars fans with a chance to channel the “Force” of their goodwill while carrying their lightsabers in an Olympic torch-like relay event that will be held from July 7th to July 11th.  Participants will make the journey from Santa Monica to San Diego in quarter-mile intervals, handing off the official “Course of the Force” lightsaber to the next runner every quarter mile.  This should be chance for Star Wars fans to show their colors (and cosplay expertise) in a unique “lightsaber” run event leading up to the nation’s leading pop culture convention, the San Diego Comic-Con.

Participants are encouraged to come decked out in their best Star Wars (or other pop culture-themed running gear), not only to look good, but also to win prizes while celebrating their favorite science fiction saga and supporting a very worthy cause, the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

In the "Course of the Force" video that accompanies this article Chris Hardwick, who is doing the intros for the new BBC America Britcom block and hosting AMC's Talking Dead, announces the event with Presidential candidate Marvin E. Quasniki.  Hardwick will be appearing tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to talk about "Course of the Force."
