Warner Bros. has released character posters for Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows and it’s clear that the cast has taken its cue from Johnny Depp’s Barnabas Collins and adopted the ghostly pallor of skin that has never seen the sun (see “New Photo of Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins”). Burton’s “fish out of water comedy” in which Collins, who shows up at the Collins family digs in Maine in 1972 after being imprisoned in a coffin for 200 years and has to deal with his disco-era descendants, is kind of like the worst family Thanksgiving dinner imaginable—and the family comedy subject matter of the film is referenced directly in the character posters, all of which bear the legend, “Strange Is Relative.” Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows opens nationwide on May 11th (see “Finally, The Dark Shadows Trailer & Poster”).
