Evil Hat Productions will release an updated, revised, and expanded Designers & Dragons in four volumes, beginning in early 2013.  The new project will build on the one-volume version written by Shannon Appelcline and published by Mongoose Publishing in 2011 (see "'Designers & Dragons'"). 

The expanded version, also written by Appelcline, will cover one decade in each of the four volumes.  Layout will "give the text room to breathe," according to Evil Hat’s Fred Hicks.  Each volume will be presented in such a way that a reader that’s interested primarily in that decade will be able to read it as a stand-alone book. 

New content will include expanded coverage of the small press and indie publishing scene in the 2000s, in addition to more material and updates in all four volumes.
