In a wide-ranging promotion, 3700 Walmart stores will offer tickets to special 7:00 p.m. Thursday night screenings of Man of Steel on June 13th, the day before it opens nationwide.  Tickets will go on sale May 18th, and customers will be limited to four tickets per visit.  Both 2D and 3D tickets will be sold.  This is the first time a studio has offered a retailer’s customers access to a special advance showing of a new movie nationwide.

A number of additional elements are included in the promotion:

Customers will be able to pre-order a Blu-ray Combo Pack or HD Digital Download of the film, containing exclusive film content, using a special code on the back of each Walmart ticket.

A "Man of Steel Experience" mobile app on iOS and Android devices will feature photo tools.

Each ticket will include a free digital comic written by David Goyer (presumably one of these, see "David Goyer to Pen 13-issue Comic").

And Walmart is loading up its stores with Man of Steel merchandise, including apparel, electronics, and posters, beginning this week.

The film is getting good early buzz see "'Man of Steel' Trailer Wows"), so it wouldn’t be surprising to see mob scenes at Walmarts the day the tickets for the early screenings go on sale.
