Warner Bros. will release a live action movie based on Archie Comics, Archie announced today. The log line listed is for a “high school comedy based on the original line of Archie Comics set in present-day Riverdale.” No release date is mentioned, but it appears this movie is green-lit.
The movie is written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who’s written a Glee storyline for Archie comics and is working on a zombie storyline (see “Are You Ready for Archie Zombies?”). Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) will direct.
Roy Lee and Dan Lin, who’ve been active in geek projects lately (see “Legendary Sues ‘Godzilla’ Prodoucers”), will produce. Jon Goldwater, Krishnan Menon, and Jon Silk will executive produce.
Archie also has a Sabrina movie in development, at Sony (see “Sony Rebooting ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’”).
