This fall, Cryptozoic Entertainment plans to release a new science fiction boardgame designed by Corey Young called Gravwell: Escape from the 9th Dimension. The game combines card drafting and strategic movement mechanics.
In the game, the players command spaceships trying to escape from a different dimension. The ships must collect fuel and supplies from drifting asteroids in order to escape, while the unusual gravity of the 9th Dimension pulls their ships towards every moving object around them.
Designer Young describes the concept behind the game in a press release:
"Gravwell’s unique characteristic is its movement mechanism. The fact that you’re gravitationally entangled with all the objects on the board, including the other player’s ships, changes it from a straightforward race game into an almost cooperative experience."
The suggested retail price will be $35.00.
