Warner Bros. announced today plans for a Ninjago movie, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Brothers Dan and Kevin Hageman will be writing the script.

The popular Lego toy line has already inspired the hit Cartoon Network series Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, which the Hageman brothers are writing.

Papercutz is publishing an extremely popular line of graphic novels (see "'Ninjago' #4 Gets 425K First Printing"), which took the #1 spot last year on ICV2’s Top 10 Kids & Tweens Graphic Novel Properties (see "Top 10 Kids & Tweens GN Properties--Full Year 2012").

The cartoon series and graphic novels are set in the fictional world of Ninjago, which features a blending of Chinese- and Japanese-style elements, and follow the adventures of a team of ninjas as they learn their elemental arts and battle evil enemies.  Plot details have not been released, but Warner Bros. did say the film will feature a different take from the TV show.

In addition to their TV work on Ninjago, the Hageman brothers are experienced big screen scribes as well.  They helped pen the story for The Lego Movie (see "Warners Developing Lego Movie"), due in theaters February 7, 2014, and also worked on Hotel Transylvania.
