Comic-Con News: Artist James O’Barr, who created The Crow comic book almost 25 years ago, is working as a creative consultant on a remake of the supernatural revenge saga, and he has fashioned a new teaser poster for the film (see "O'Barr on 'The Crow' Reboot"). The remake, which was nearly scuttled by a lawsuit that torpedoed efforts to remake the film with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directing and Bradley Cooper starring, is now set to start shooting early next year with F. Javier Guttierez directing and Sam Evans in the lead role (see "'The Crow' Remake Back on Track").
O’Barr, who was initially opposed to the remake because of his affection for the original film starring Brandon Lee, told Shock Till You Drop that it was new helmer Guttierez’s determination to go back to the original source material and present it in a gritty realistic fashion that convinced him to sign on to the project as a consultant and produce the striking teaser poster for the film that was unveiled at Comic-Con.
