Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes said Game of Thrones piracy is "a tremendous word-of-mouth thing," and that world-wide piracy of the show is "better than an Emmy," during the company’s earnings call last week, reported via The Verge.
Bewkes was asked whether he condoned copyright infringement of the HBO hit. "If you go around the world, I think you're right, that Game of Thrones is the most pirated show in the world," he said. "Now that's better than an Emmy." The superbly-produced adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice fantasy saga broke piracy records this season, including a new record for a BitTorrent swarm (see "'Game of Thrones' Tops Since 'Sopranos'").
