Marvel’s plan to issue a single hardcover collection of Captain America: The Winter Soldier stories to capitalize on interest from the movie has met with approval from writer Ed Brubaker , according to USA Today. "This is the first time Marvel has one specific book to point people to, as opposed to when X-Men: First Class came out and there’s 15 trade paperbacks and people who saw the movie don’t know which one to pick up," Brubaker said. "So it’s exciting, as the guy who gets royalties for that book." The 312-page hardcover, with the title the same as the movie, will collect Captain America (2005) 1-9 and 11-14, at a $34.99 retail.
Brubacker also liked the title. "[I]t’s the first time Marvel has put out a movie where there’s a specific book the title of the movie relates to," he said, noting that "...now they’re doing that with Avengers: Age of Ultron."
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be released March 11, 2014, about three weeks before the release of the film on April 4 (see "First 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Poster")
There are some other tie-in books planned. Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier Prelude , a 152-page paperback, will collect Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger Adaptation 1-2, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier Infinite Comic 1, Captain America (1968) #117, Captain America (2005) #6, The Ultimates #2, Material from Tales of Suspense (1959) #57; and handbook profiles. It will retail for $14.99 and street on March 18th.
Marvel Press and Disney Book Group also have releases planned, both for March as well.
And then after the movie will come Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier--The Art of the Movie, a $49.99 hardcover in a slipcase.
