New York Comic Con News: Marvel Comics announced a crossover between its two X-Force books (Uncanny X-Force and Cable and X-Force). The event, which is called Vendetta, will be contained to the two X-Force books and the month of January. Two issues from each series will ship during January as the Vendetta event plays out weekly across the four X-Force books.
Dennis Hopeless, who is writing Cable and X-Force and thus might be considered biased, characterized Vendetta as an event "where Cable kicks the shit out of those imposters." All that was revealed so far is that Stryfe will return as the villain/catalyst for the Vendetta event.
With DC Comics announcing the Forever Evil: Blight crossover and Marvel continuing with crossover events both large and relatively modest (like Vendetta) it is clear that publishers are going to continue to try to boost sales by this method, particularly since the release of the September comic sales numbers, which showed a major sales gain in periodical comics that was largely the result of a confluence of major crossover events including DC’s Villains’ Month, plus Marvel’s Infinity and Battle of the Atom (see "'Villains Month,' 'Infinity' Drive September Sales").
