Mayfair Games is planning a 2014 release for Hold the Front Page, a clever card-based game in which players attempt to be the first to makeup the front and back pages of a newspaper. Designed by Andrew Bond for 2-6 players the game utilizes a worker placement and set collection mechanic as player/editors collect news in eight different categories including politics, business international, home, sports, fashion, arts, and travel. Players put their reporters on the stories they want to cover, but they can be outbid by other editors willing to spend more to get the story. The longer the story the better, and players earn extra points for exclusives, interviews, headlines, and extra material.
Bond reported the news that Mayfair had picked up Hold the Front Page on his Mr. Angry blog on Boardgame Geek stating unequivocally that "HTFP is entering final development and will be published by Mayfair Games in 2014."
