Legendary has finally released the first official Godzilla trailer, which shows predictable amounts of mayhem and a glimpse of the monster that caused it. The film is slated to open nationwide on May 16, 2014.
There’ve been lots of high profile people involved with this project, including a David Goyer script with rewrites by Frank Darabont (see "'Godzilla' Gets New Writer, Producer"), Gareth Edwards as the director, and some hurt feelings that ended up in court along the way (see "Legendary Loses a Round").
Godzilla seems to drive product sales in good times and bad, and there’s a good line-up right now ready for the opportunity. In addition to IDW Publishing's popular Godzilla comic book series, and games and merch from Toy Vault, Diamond Comic Distributors has forged a major deal with Toho to import licensed Godzilla merchandise (see "Diamond Deal with Toho for Japanese 'Godzilla' Merch").
