Chris Williams will join Don Hall to co-direct Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Big Hero 6, which is loosely based on the Marvel comic property, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Also, Roy Conli has been named producer. This is the first Disney Animation production based on a Marvel property.
Williams co-directed and co-wrote the script for Disney’s Oscar-nominated Bolt in 2008. He’s also written other works for Disney, including Mulan, The Emperor’s New Groove, and Brother Bear. Most recently he did voice work for Disney’s current hit Frozen, as the character Oaken.
Hall, who wrote the story and directed Disney’s 2011 Winnie the Pooh, had been previously announced as the director and writer on Big Hero 6 at Disney’s D23 Expo last year, when test footage and the release date of November 7, 2014 were shared (see "'Big Hero 6' Gets Date").
Conli has previously produced Disney’s Tangled, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Treasure Planet.
