Marvel Comics has announced Original Sin, a new crossover event beginning in April.
The main book will be Original Sin, an eight-part mini-series written by Jason Aaron (Amazing X-Men, Thor: God of Thunder), with art by Mike Deodato Jr. (Amazing Spider-Man, New Avengers). The series will begin in April with a special #0 issue by Mark Waid and Jim Cheung, and then Issue #1 by Aaron and Deodato Jr. debuts the same month.
The story begins with the discovery of the body of Uatu, the Watcher, on the moon. "This is basically a crime story. A murder-mystery. A manhunt. But with the entirety of the Marvel Universe as its backdrop," said Jason Aaron. In a live chat, he named characters that will feature in the plot: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Wolverine, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Black Panther, Moon Knight, The Thing, Gamora, and the Winter Soldier. He also teased some interesting pair-ups, including Dr. Strange and Punisher, and Emma Frost and Ant-Man.
While the tie-in books have not been announced, Aaron did share that it would be a different mix between the main story and tie-ins than Marvel has done before. "The tie-ins will deal with the fall-out of that murder and the secrets that come out because of it," Aaron said.
