Geek & Sundry has announced that the second annual International TableTop Day will be held Saturday, April 5th. The announcement was made at a "Play More Games" event in LA co-hosted by Days of Wonder and Geek & Sundry on Sunday.
The event will consist of game days and parties hosted at retail stores, community centers, homes, and other venues around the world. Once again, the website TableTopDay.com will serve as the hub for information with an event locator, free event posting, downloads for hosts, videos, and more. The organizers are hoping for a big increase in participation this year to 6,000 local meet-ups worldwide event, and hope to reach 11 million people with TableTop Day messages.
The first TableTop Day, hosted on March 30, 2013 (see "International TableTop Day"), boasted over 3,000 events in 64 countries on all seven continents, all organized on a fairly tight timetable according to TableTop Associate Producer Boyan Radakovich, who spoke with ICv2 last fall (see "Using 'TableTop'"). Over 1,000 retail kits were distributed to specialty game stores globally in 2013.
TableTop continues to have a major impact on the industry (see "Top Ten Hobby Games Business Events of 2013").
TableTop Day sponsors this year include Days of Wonder, Steve Jackson Games, Asmodee, Mayfair Games, Looney Labs, Fantasy Flight, Drivethru RPG, Tasty Minstrel Games, and Indie Boards & Cards, among others.
