Asmodee shared details on several spring card game releases at Toy Fair: Timeline Music & Cinema, Cardline Globetrotter, Continental Express, and a new edition of the classic Mille Bornes.
Asmodee’s Joshua Githens shared, "We have Mille Bornes, which is a remake of an old game that everybody has seen; it has been around for a long time. We’ll have that available in summertime, probably June or July." Mille Bornes is in the Games Magazine Hall of Fame.
The classic French card game pits players in a race to be the first to score 1000 miles. The deck contains 110 cards, a mix of hazard, remedy, safety, and distance cards. The game is for 2 – 6 players, ages 7 and up, and plays in 10 minutes. MSRP is $14.99.
In March, Asmodee will release Timeline Music & Cinema. "It plays just like the other Timeline games, where you order the music and cinema events as they happen in chronological order," said Githens. Players compete to get rid of their cards by inserting them correctly in the timeline. The box contains 110 double-sided cards and a rulebook. The game is for 2 -8 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 15 minutes. MSRP is $14.99.
Another March release is Cardline Globetrotter. Like Timeline, players have to fit cards into an ever-growing line-up of countries in the correct order. "With Globetrotter, it’s size of the country, population of the country, GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the country, and pollution per person that the country makes. So you chose those four, and put them in order, much like the other games," Githens explained. The box contains 110 double-sided cards and a rulebook. The game is for 2 -8 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 15 minutes. MSRP is $14.99.
The new Continental Express card game, which looks to be the first in a new series, will also debut in March. Players are rail yard managers attempting to complete train deliveries. There are three columns of cars players can choose from to acquire the cars they need, but some cost money. When a player has completed four deliveries, point are totaled. "Where it’s going to be different is at the beginning of the game, you’re dealt one of these hidden objectives and they have different things that give you different bonus points," Githens said. "So if you have differing logos for the train companies, that may be worth bonus points, or if you matching, they’re worth bonus points. That’s where every game has some variety." The box contains 82 cards, 20 company tokens, 30 long cards, and a rulebook. The game is for 2 – 4 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 20 minutes. MSRP is $17.99.
Githens also shared that Asmodee is planning on producing displays for its card games. "We have the display box for Timeline, and we’re going to be making a display box for Mille Bornes," he said. Asmodee is also looking into a display for the Continental Express series and Builders, which have a different price point.
