Kodansha Comics has announced that it will publish Fullmetal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa’s newest work, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, a new adaptation of novels by Yoshiki Tanaka, which will release in August.
The Heroic Legend of Arslan has been previously adapted into a manga, two anime films, and an OVA series. The fantasy story revolves around teenaged prince Arslan, who is failing to live up to the legacy of his father Andragoras III. After being sent to war, only to see his kingdom fall, Arslan begins a journey to reclaim his lost kingdom.
The original novel series by Yoshiki Tanaka features illustrations by Yoshitaka Amano and includes 13 novels. The first manga adaption was written by Tanaka and illustrated by Chisato Nakamura. Because the novel series was unfinished at the time, the manga created its own ending.
