Dimension Films has released a new trailer for Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, which is set to debut on August 22nd, 2014. While much of the footage here was seen in the first A Dame to Kill For trailer (see "First 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill' For Trailer"). But there are some new shots of a battered and bruised Joseph Gordon-Leavitt, who plays the cocky gambler Johnny in "The Long Bad Night," a new original storyline that Frank Miller created for the movie.
And poor Jessica Alba, as if she didn’t already have enough problems, looks like she is going to have a tough time dealing with the crazed Joey played by Goodfella’s alum Ray Liotta.
In terms of the potential to sell graphic novels to the mainstream public, A Dame to Kill For remains something of an enigma. Unfortunately it has been nine years since the first Sin City movie debuted, so interest in the property has largely disappeared, but it was the major graphic novel sales driver of 2005, and Dark Horse has mounted an extensive publishing program for the property (see "Dark Horse's 'Sin City' Publishing Program").
But the best outcome for graphic novel sales could be that A Dame to Kill For does well enough at the box office that The Weinstein Company is able to realize its goal to turn Sin City into a cable TV series (see "'Sin City' TV Show").
