Disney is “…developing designs for a far greater Star Wars presence in the parks,” CEO Bob Iger said in an earnings call on Tuesday, according to the Huffington Post.   Disney moved to expand Star Wars-themed content after acquiring Lucasfilm (see “Star Wars Land”), and has a “Star Tours” simulator ride in the Florida, California, Tokyo and Paris park locations, as well as the “Jedi Training Academy” in both the Florida and California locations.

Disney’s Finance Chief and Senior Executive Vice President Jay Rasulo explained that the plan to incorporate more of the Star Wars-themed attractions into the parks can be a major deciding factor for some potential visitors. “They pull people from, 'Gee, I'm gonna go someday' to 'I'm gonna go this year!'"

Specific details on the expansion will not be revealed until next year.

Disney’s parks are solidly profitable, and a major revenue center.  According to the Los Angeles Times, Disney's parks and resorts division posted operating income of $848 million, which is a gain of 23% from a year earlier.  The parks and resorts unit generated $4 billion in revenue in its fiscal third quarter, which ended June 28, up 8% from a year earlier.
