Warner Bros. is apparently finalizing a deal with David Ayer to direct the DC Comics’ film adaptation of Suicide Squad, according to Variety.
Warner Bros. finally broke its silence and announced reservation dates for nine untitled DC Comic films in August (see "Batman Blinks"). This is the first official news on the Suicide Squad movie since 2009, when Justin Marks was announced as script writer, and Don Lin as producer (see "'Suicide Squad' Movie"). No news yet on which of the dates Warners reserved for un-named movies will be used for Suicide Squad.
Ayer has directed five films, including End of Watch and the forthcoming WWII movie Fury. He also has screenwriting credits on those films, as well as Training Day and the original The Fast and the Furious.
