Amazing Spider-Man #9, the first issue of Marvel's Spider-Verse publishing event, nearly matched Avengers and X-Men: Axis #1 in October (135,280 vs. 138,966), and seems to be holding up stronger as the issues go on, according to indexes provided by Diamond Comic Distributors and calculations by ICv2.  Amazing Spider-Man #10, part 2 of the Spider-Verse storyline, also in November, sold 100,899, vs. 87,964 of Avengers and X-Men: Axis #2 in October.

Avengers & X-Men: Axis is the centerpiece of Marvel's big fall event, in which members of both Avengers and X-Men star (see "First Details of 'Avengers & X-Men: Axis'"), while Spider-Verse was seen as a more focused storyline with less sales potential.  The sixth issue of the core Axis title was down 47% from the first issue the month before, in October.

The All-New Captain America #1, featuring Sam Wilson (f/k/a the Falcon) as Cap (see "Marvel Launching New 'Cap' Series"), was the #2 comic with sales of over 120,000 copies.  Spider-Woman #1, the center of a controversy over a Milo Manara variant cover (see "Alonso Apologizes") was the #5 title with sales of nearly 94,000 copies.

Three of the top six comic titles, Captain America, Spider-Woman, and Thor #2, which came in at #6, star what might be called non-traditional (i.e., not white male) characters, a continuation of a trend that’s been growing over the last year.

The other big sales event, albeit one that's sort of invisible until you dig into the numbers, was the release of the Saga Deluxe Edition, which sold enough copies at $49.99 each to generate the most money of any title on the graphic novel chart (where it came in third in pieces, behind the latest The Walking Dead and Teen Titans: Earth One Vol. 1 HC), and more than all but three comic titles, all of which sold over 100,000 copies.
