The latest iteration of SquareSoft's popular Final Fantasy video game franchise, Final Fantasy X-2, has already sold more than 1.9 million units in Japan. Diamond Comic Distributors is adding to the frenzy surrounding the worldwide release of Final Fantasy X-2 with a new set of offerings based on the incredibly popular video game franchise. Having already imported action figures based on the FFX-2 human characters Paine, Yuna, and Rikku in October (see 'Diamond Imports Final Fantasy X-2 Figures'), Diamond has announced two elaborately sculpted Final Fantasy X-2 'Creature' Action Figures, Heretic Bahamut and Heretic Yojimbo, which will ship to retailers in April.
The Heretic Monsters, aka Dark Aeons, originally aided Yuna and her companions in the Final Fantasy X game, but in FFX-2, they turn against their old allies and try and impede Yuna on her journey through Spira. Heretic Bahamut stands 8.25' tall, features 20 points of articulation and an enormous 18' wingspan. The Heretic Yojimbo Action Figure, sculpted by Junichi Taniguchi, is 8' tall and comes with his faithful companion, Daigoro, the lion dog. Both figures come in FFX-2 window box packaging.
Diamond is also importing Final Fantasy Creatures Mini-Figure Series I Two-Packs, which combine creatures from various different versions of the Final Fantasy game. Set #1 includes Cerberus from Final Fantasy VII and Yunalesca from Final Fantasy X. Set #2 features Diamond Weapon from Final Fantasy VII and Seymour Evolution from Final Fantasy X, while Set #3 contains Bahamut Zero from Final Fantasy VII and Death Gaze from Final Fantasy IX. These two-pack collections of mini-figures are scheduled to ship in March, 2004.
