Capitalizing on the success of the Sci-Fi Channel's mini-series revival of the original hit TV series (see 'Battlestar Boffo') and its continuing success as it will be brought back as a series later this year (see 'Battlestar Galactica To Be Regular Series'), Joyride has scheduled two series of figures/ships so far, based on the original TV show and, according to Joyride, 'resembling' the actors.
Series 1 will include Starbuck (Dirk Benedict), a Silver Cylon Centurion and a Colonial Viper, which will be seven inches long with a cockpit that opens, retractable landing gear and a removable pilot (in a smaller scale than the action figures).
All figures will have bases and accessories, stand seven inches tall and have seven to twelve points of articulation.
Series 2 will include Apollo (Richard Hatch), Athena, and a Cylon Raider, seven inches long with a cockpit that opens with three removable pilots.
These action figures and vehicles, along with the upcoming regular television series on the Sci-Fi Channel, DVDs (see 'Battlestar Galactica Heads to DVD', the Palisades/Factory X license for high end memorabilia (see 'Palisades Gets Animated') and trading cards from Rittenhouse will give Battlestar Galactica a very high profile and make it a property to watch closely for retailers.
