Nickelodeon never knew what to do with Jhonen Vasquez' Invader Zim, but based on the Family Guy-type sales of the first Zim DVD release from Media Blasters, someone should seriously consider reviving this animated series.  Based on VideoScan numbers as well as on figures from Diamond and other distributors, it appears that the first Invader Zim DVD set has sold well over 125,000 units since its release in May.  The second volume in the DVD series will be out at the end of August, while the third volume, which will come in several editions including one which will feature spectacular packaging as well as a special Zim figure from Palisades (see below), should be out in time for the holidays.  Retailers who have had success with Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Squee should seriously consider picking up the Zim DVD series.

Later this fall retailers will also have the opportunity to carry a line of Invader Zim figures from Palisades Toys.  Although only resin mockups were available for viewing at San Diego, the Zim toys attracted a great deal of interest at the Palisades booth.  Here is a property that in spite of its origins on a 'children's' TV network, is a little too hip for the mass-market discounters, which makes it a natural for cutting edge retailers.
