Mezco has announced on its message boards that the company has acquired the rights to make toys based on Eric Powell's comic book series, The Goon, published by Dark Horse Comics. Set in a sort of depression-era America, the multi-Eisner Award nominated series is a curious blend of pulp horror and satire. The eponymous hero of the book is a massive street thug with a face like a slab of ground beef, who manages to save the inhabitants of Lonely Street from a variety of creatures including squids, zombies and fire-breathing space lizards. In addition to the Dark Horse comics and trade paperback collections, Bowen Designs issued a 5' Goon Mini-Bust in June of this year. No date has been set for the release of the Mezco Goon toys, which will be the first toys based on the property.
