Wizards of the Coast founder Peter Adkison (who sold the company to Hasbro) has formed Hidden City Games, a new game company.  Hidden City's first game will be Clout Fantasy, a collectible game with a fantasy theme to be sold in sets and booster packs beginning this summer.  It will be played with poker-style chips instead of cards, and will require manual dexterity to win.

Alderac Entertainment Group will bring Clout Fantasy to market in the U.S.  Hidden City also has an impressive international roster of alliances, including Hobby Japan in Japan; Amigo Spiel + Freizeit in Germany and Austria; 999 Games in Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg; Hobby Games in the UK; Asmodee Editions in France; Nexus Editrice in Italy; Devir in Spain, Portugal, and Latin America; Kaissa Chess and Games in Greeze; and Croftminster in Australia and New Zealand.

Adkison said Clout Fantasy struck him immediately.  'When Clout Fantasy was first demonstrated to me, I knew within five minutes that it was a game worth bringing to the market,' he said.  'It has all the elements that make not just a good game but an excellent game.'

Clout Fantasy was created by Jesper Myrfors, who was an art director and game designer for Magic for many years at Wizards of the Coast.  Paul Peterson, formerly of Wizards of the Coast's R&D Department, will work with Myrfors on Clout Fantasy.  Vince Caluori, former CEO of Wizards of the Coast, and John Jordan are serving on the board of directors of Hidden City.

Based on the structure of the relationships announced at this stage, Hidden City is being set up as an intellectual property house that uses publishing partners to actually produce and market the game.
