Geneon has announced that it will release the first DVD volume of the anime series Viewtiful Joe on February 7th, 2006.  The DVD will include the first five episodes of the 51-episode series and has an MSRP of $19.98.  Geneon will also release a Viewtiful Joe Soundtrack CD ($14.98) at the same time.

The Viewtiful Joe series, which is based on a CapCom videogame, features American 'superhero-like' character design and a likeable hero, who gets sucked into a video world where he has to help his idol, the burned-out superhero Captain Blue defend Movie Land from the evil Jadows.  The Kids WB, which obtained the rights for the first 26 episodes of the series, has announced that it will premier the Viewtiful Joe anime series on Saturday, November 5th as part of the Kids WB's top-rated (for broadcast networks) Saturday morning animated line-up.
