According to the Anime News Network Del Rey plans to publish the Basilisk and Suzuka manga series without censorship, but will shrinkwrap both titles, provide them with a 'M' (for 'Mature') rating, and change both the format and price.  The two  shrinkwrapped mature series will be published in a new format, 5.5' x 8.25'--slightly larger than Del Rey's other manga releases (5' x 7.5'), and they will carry of cover price of $13.95 versus Del Rey's standard price of $10.95.

The five-volume Basilisk manga, adapted by Masaki Segawa from a novel by the late Futaro Yamada, won the Kodansha Manga Award for 2004 and it has been made into a popular anime series, which FUNimation has licensed for the U.S. (see 'Funimation Nabs Basilisk Rights').  Del Rey plans to publish the first volume in the Basilisk series in May 2006, while FUNimation plans to begin to release the Basilisk anime in late summer.

Unlike Basilisk, which is about two warring ninja clans in 17th Century Japan, Suzuka is a contemporary high school romance by Kouji Seo, which has appeared in Kodansha's Shonen Magazine.  Del Rey plans to debut this series about a female high school track star and her not-so-athletic boyfriend in September.
