WizKids has announced that it will release MechWarrior: Vanguard, an expansion for the MechWarrior Collectible Miniatures Game, in June. WizKids, which will end its wave shipping program in May (see 'WizKids to Eliminate Wave Shipping') will be shipping retailers their complete orders on MechWarrior: Vanguard. The Vanguard Expansion introduces 81 new units as well as 23 gear cards, 23 pilot cards, and 24 condition, faction pride, and alliance cards to the game. Mercenary Contract Cards, previously only available in the Age of Destruction Value Pack, have been randomly packed in Vanguard Boosters. The MechWarrior: Vanguard Booster Packs (MSRP $9.99) include four fully assembled, pre-painted units (1 Mech, 1 vehicle, 2 infantry), 1 gear card, 1 pilot card, and 1 random card (either a planetary condition card, faction pride card, or mercenary contract card).
Promotion for the Vanguard Expansion will include ads in Scrye and InQuest, as well as Star Wars Insider and Sci-Fi Magazine. Customers who purchase eight MechWarrior Boosters can send in for a MechWarriors Officer's Club Kit, and WizKids is sponsoring a number of MechWarrior: Vanguard Approved Play events that will feature exclusive gear and alternative versions of pilots available in the set.
In October WizKids will release MechWarrior: Wolf Strike, a series of stylized Mechs piloted by some of the most deadly warriors in the galaxy, and a third MechWarrior release, MechWarrior: Outlaws is now slated for January of 2007.
