Tenacious Games, which was formed by former Magic Tournament winners and members of the Magi Nation design team, has outlined the events that will form the core of its promotion for its first Tournament Card Game The Spoils.  Although its format is that of a typical CCG, The Spoils was designed specifically for tournament play (see 'Tenacious Games Lays Plans' for an overview) and the tournaments are both the game's chief promotional vehicles and its raison d'etre.

The Spoils Championship boasts the largest single purse for a CCG or CMG tournament; $400,000 will be awarded on The Spoils cruise in February of 2008.

To make it to the big money stage of the tournament, players must start by winning Invitational Qualifiers held at Tenacious Games' premier retail partner's stores. Each region will have a number of select stores that will hold an eight-week series of qualifying events and will be able to send up to eight players to regional Invitational Tournaments, which will begin after the release of the first The Spoils expansion in February, 2007.

The Invitational Tournaments will feature $1,000 worth of cash or electronic prizes.  They will often be held in conjunction with the pre-release events for The Spoils and will provide winners with STE points necessary to compete at higher levels of the tournament including the $400,000 Caribbean cruise.

In addition, Tenacious Games will also sponsor two luxury coach tours in the summer of 2007, one leaving from the West coast and the other from the East coast.  They will meet at GenCon Indy and will conduct numerous open $5,000 tournaments along the way while disbursing some $300,000 in prizes and lots of STE points.

Tenacious Games is also planning for $100,000 worth of prizes to be given out at shows and conventions during 2007 including GenCon (Indy, SoCal, UK), Penny Arcade Expo, Essen Game Fair, and the San Diego and New York Comic-Cons.

Players who have earned 50 STE points by the end of 2007 will be eligible to go on a free five-day Caribbean cruise in February 2008, during which Tenacious Games will hold a $400,000 tournament.  The cruise will accommodate up to 500 players (each of whom will be able to bring a guest).  Winners of the Invitational Tournaments will each receive 50 STE points making them eligible, and winners of two GenCon tournaments, including one at GenCon SoCal this fall, will also receive 50 points.
