The new Bladerunner film will be a sequel, according to director Ridley Scott as reported in the Wall Street Journal. Scott joined the project in August, but nothing was revealed except that the new Bladerunner film would be set in the same world as the original (see “Ridley Scott to Helm New ‘Bladerunner’ Movie”). Scott also told the Journal that the cast would be new. He said “we’re quite a long way in, actually” on the new production, with work currently underway on finding a screenwriter that can deliver the right kind of script.
