Ryan Reynolds is no longer attached to star in the remake of Highlander, according to The Wrap. Reynolds’ departure follows director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (see "Geek Film News"), who exited the film late last year. Fresnadillo was the second director to leave the film; Justin Lin departed in August of 2011 (see "Justin Lin Ankles 'Highlander' Remake").
Summit Entertainment plans to continue to develop the film; it has a script that has been through multiple iterations.
