New York Comic Con News: Confirming news that broke when Marvel’s bookstore distributor Hachette’s new catalog came out with a listing for Fantastic Four: The End is Fourever (see "Will 'Fantastic Four' End With #645?"), James Robinson, who is currently writing the book, told an NYCC audience, "The book is reverting to its original numbers, and the book is going away for a while. I’m moving towards the end of the Fantastic Four. I just want to reassure people that you will not leave this book with a bad taste in your mouth."
The reason that the original flagship title of the Marvel Universe is taking a hiatus is, according to widespread rumors, due to the anger of major Marvel stock holder (and former CEO) Ike Perlmutter, who is miffed that Fox, after twice failing horribly to establish a Fantastic Four film franchise, supposedly rebuffed Marvel’s overtures that were intended to come to some sort of agreement whereby the big screen rights to the property would revert to Marvel. Instead Fox hired young director Josh Trank to reboot the franchise a third time with his Fantastic Four film is due out in August. When the new Fantastic Four movie unspools, there will be no new Fantastic Four comics in the comic shops.
